Tectonic Finance FAQ
Short, straight answers to the questions people most often ask about Tectonic. Each links to a fuller explanation elsewhere in the guide.
The basics
What is Tectonic Finance?
It is a decentralised money market on the Cronos blockchain: a protocol where people supply crypto to earn interest and borrow against collateral, with rates set automatically. Full overview on what is Tectonic Finance.
What blockchain does it run on?
Cronos — an EVM-compatible chain tied to the Crypto.com ecosystem. More in the Cronos ecosystem guide.
Is Tectonic the same thing as TONIC?
No. Tectonic is the protocol; TONIC is the token. People mix the names up constantly, but they are distinct.
Who is it for?
Anyone wanting to earn yield on idle crypto, or to borrow liquidity without selling their holdings — particularly users already active on Cronos.
Using the protocol
How do I earn interest?
By supplying a supported asset, which earns the live supply APY and mints tTokens representing your deposit. See supplying & earning.
How does borrowing work?
You lock collateral and borrow a different asset up to your borrowing limit, repaying any time. Walkthrough in the borrowing guide.
How do I avoid getting liquidated?
Borrow conservatively, watch your health factor, remember interest accrues, and keep repayment funds handy. Details on understanding liquidations.
What can I supply or borrow?
Core markets include CRO, USDC, USDT, DAI, TUSD, WBTC, WETH and TONIC. See supported assets.
Token & safety
What is the total supply of TONIC?
500 trillion tokens, with roughly 32% allocated to liquidity-mining rewards. See the TONIC token.
What is xTONIC?
Staked TONIC. It carries governance rights and a share of protocol revenue. See xTONIC & governance.
Is Tectonic safe?
It is built on the audited Compound codebase and reviewed by firms including SlowMist and BlockSec, but no protocol is risk-free. See security & audits and never invest more than you can afford to lose.
How do I reach the app safely?
Double-check the website address before connecting your wallet, and follow only verified links published on the official X account and documentation. Beware of lookalike domains and search-ad scams — see the phishing section on the security page.
